In July 2019 Mayor Hanna Zdanowska has initiated and leads Working Group of the Union of Polish Metropolises for Eco-strategy. She has started the largest revitalisation program in Poland to improve housing and living conditions, especially in the city centre. In the 2018 local elections, she was elected for the third term, receiving 70.22% of the vote in the first round of voting. Prior to his first election as president of the Regional Government of the Azores in 2012, he held several cabinet positions as Regional Secretary for the Economy (2008-2012), the Presidency (2004-2008), responsible for European and External Affairs, and Agriculture and Fisheries (2003-2004). Vasco Alves Cordeiro, a lawyer, is currently the 1st vice-president of the European Committee of the Regions and a member of the Azores Regional Parliament, having served two terms as president of the Government of the Azores, an Autonomous Region of Portugal.
